Nigel Lassetter, West Midlands Forum Head, has organised a Forum Webinar which will be presented to you by ZOOM on Wednesday 24th September 2025 at 4.00 p.m. until 5.30 p.m.

‘Easements & Party Wall Practice (follow up session)’

Following April’s well-attended Faculty Forum, this second session will continue our exploration of easements and their interaction with the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.

Nigel Lassetter (Chartered Building Engineer & Party Wall Surveyor) and Shaw Kelly (Boundary Barrister) will revisit the key legal principles and practical issues that arose in April’s discussion, including:

• Rights of way affected by extensions and developments
• Projections, overhangs, and prescriptive rights
• The surveyor’s jurisdiction under the Act and the limits of “ultra vires” awards
• Section 9 safeguards: rights of light, support, and other easements
• Case law updates and practical scenarios for surveyors

This is an interactive forum with space for questions, shared experiences, and debate. Members are encouraged to bring practical examples from their own caseloads.

CPD certificates will be issued after the event. Please be aware that if you do not join within the first 30 minutes, you will not receive a CPD certificate.
