Dr Stephen Cornish is a Fellow and a director of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors; he is also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Managing Director and co-founder of Woodward Chartered Surveyors.
Contrary to popular belief, Stephen was not around in medieval London when the early surveyors were addressing party wall disputes; he merely studied the period for his doctorate, which was a forensic building pathology investigation into historic buildings. Although Stephen produced his first award in 1983 he continues his own research into party wall matters, whilst assisting the Faculty in achieving its aims: educating building surveyors and other professionals, together with enhancing awareness and providing guidance to the general public.
