The Faculty has organised a Forum Webinar which will be presented to you by ZOOM on Wednesday 29th May 2024 at 4.30 p.m. until 6.00 p.m.

Stephen Cornish (Director) will be delivering on the following:

  • What is a dispute under the Act?

The answer to this question may seem obvious, but recent court cases suggest otherwise, and party wall surveyors should be wary of producing awards without evidence of an “actual”  or “deemed” dispute between the parties.   This presentation by Dr Stephen Cornish will look at what constitutes a dispute for the purposes of section 10 of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996, particularly in the context of “further awards.”

Stephen Cornish is a well known and respected Chartered Surveyor throughout Middlesex, North West London and Central London, Steve (Cornish) and Stephen (Woodward) have worked together since the late 1980’s.  Steve is to be found in either the Mayfair or Rickmansworth office well before the sun, and most surveyors, are out of bed and has an insatiable passion for architecture and its history.  He has a Doctorate in building history, a subject that finds him lecturing at Birkbeck College University of London. Steve is a Fellow of the RICS, a Fellow and Director of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors and member of the Pyramus and Thisbe Society for party wall surveyors.  He lectures on Party Wall matters and is a widely consulted  “Third Surveyor”  settling Party Wall disputes between Party Wall surveyors.
