Alan bright, on behalf of the Faculty, has organised a Forum Webinar which will be presented to you by ZOOM on Tuesday 2nd December 2025 at 4.00 p.m. until 5.30 p.m.

Magistrates Courts Fee Recovery

Shaw Kelly (Barrister) will discuss the following:

Join Shaw Kelly and Alan Bright for a 90-minute online masterclass on recovering surveyors’ fees and legal costs in the magistrates’ court and, alternatively, small claims. We’ll cover s.64 MCA costs discretion, LIP Act allowances, the 2001 Order, drafting and evidence, pre-hearing payment scenarios, proportionality, and practical tactics for success.

Shaw Kelly is a seasoned barrister with more than 30 years of experience in criminal and commercial law. Currently specialising in property and commercial law, he is a recognised authority on boundary and property dispute resolution.

Notably, he is an expert on the Party Wall etc. Act 1996, and has been honoured with membership in the prestigious Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors. In addition to his legal practice, Shaw provides highly regarded seminars and training programmes aimed at both legal professionals and building surveyors.

His notable successes in high-profile legal cases have made him a sought-after consultant and speaker in the areas of property law and dispute resolution. His depth of expertise and commitment to education make him an invaluable resource in his field.

CPD certificates will be issued after the event. Please be aware that if you do not join within the first 30 minutes, you will not receive a CPD certificate. We cannot be responsible for anyone that does not attend the zoom meeting and please note that we will not provide video recordings of events that are missed.
