Two Day Party Wall Training Course
Our Education and Training is second to none. Having been in existence since 2001 we have established ourselves as the recognised body for teaching in all matters relating to the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. The Faculty is a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation born out of a need for education and support for building surveyors and other construction professionals.
Two Day Party Wall Training Course – Overview
Who Is It For?
This two day training course covers the whole of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. It is designed for Surveyors, Architects, Engineers and all those that have a responsibility for, and associated with, construction works.
Completion of this party wall training course means you will be eligible to apply for membership of the Faculty, subject to attending and passing an interview. A prerequisite is that you have a construction knowledge for joining.
Outcome & Benefits
Our rules of entry require that even if someone is experienced in party wall matters they are required to attend this party wall training course should they wish to become a member of the Faculty.
This will be in accordance with our teaching on the subject, and ensures good knowledge and a better understanding of what is expected of someone that becomes a member and ensures they are a very good party wall surveyor.
Delivery
The party wall training course is structured and presented by subject experts in a professional and friendly manner for which interaction and questions are encouraged. The presentation is provided in a hard copy form in that copious notes can be taken. A paper exercise is undertaken in the afternoon of the second day to help to put into practise as to what you have been taught.

Where & When
The party wall training is run on a regular basis as a face to face course in London. Occasionally the training course is delivered on ‘Zoom’, being mindful that there are people in further parts of the country that may find this more convenient.
Please check the current events calendar below for planned dates. If there is a demand for a large group wishing to attend a training course this can be arranged at an agreed venue to suit the needs of the group. Please contact the Faculty Administration to discuss.

- Two-day party wall training delivered by experienced subject experts
- A4 zip folder and Pen that includes course paperwork i.e. samples of notices, flowcharts, awards

Course Fees
The cost is £985 (nil VAT) for face to face training and £885 (nil VAT) for virtual training, which includes the two-day training course and an interview for membership.
On completion of Training Course
As part of attending our two-day course, we are pleased to offer an interview for those who wish to apply for membership of our organisation. Please note that this interview is included at no additional cost if taken within 12 months of your course date. After this period, interviews can still be arranged but will be subject to the standard interview fee. After two years and up to three years from the two-day course you will have to complete a ‘Refresher’ Course before being accepted for interview and after three years from the two-day course date you will have to re-sit the two-day course before being accepted for interview.
After receipt of your application form, you will need to submit the following documentation:
Two awards – one where you are the agreed surveyor and one where you are one of two surveyors
- Corresponding letters of appointment
- A Notice on behalf of the Building Owner
- A letter to the Appointing Owners advising them of the name of the Third Surveyor that has been selected
- A copy of the covering letter when serving the award
These documents are to be produced from a set of plans that we will provide upon receipt of your application form after the two day course. Whilst the intention is for you to demonstrate your understanding of how to apply the Act by producing the requested paperwork, it is also imperative that you apply due care and attention to detail, as if these documents might be scrutinised in a court of law.
Offer of Membership
When you successfully pass the interview, you will be required to pay an annual subscription fee with subscriptions due on the 1st of July annually. Invoices for new members joining mid-year are adjusted for the remaining period and may not be strictly pro-rata. The invoice will also include the cost for the handbook, which is an obligatory one-off purchase of £45.
